KILIMANJARO ROUTESReach the Roof of Africa

With six distinct routes leading to the summit of Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak, 5,895m), and an additional option to climb Mount Meru, there’s a path to suit every adventurer. Each route offers its own character – from lush rainforests and sweeping moorlands to striking alpine deserts and glacial summits. After your climb, we can assist with seamless onward travel – from airport or city transfers to idyllic beach time in Zanzibar or a thrilling wildlife safari.

Marangu Route – 8 Days
From USD1,599 per person

Affectionately known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” this is Kilimanjaro’s most classic and well-established trail. With comfortable hut accommodation and a more gradual ascent, it’s an excellent choice for trekkers seeking familiarity and a steady climb. The route includes a valuable acclimatisation day at Horombo Hut, helping to boost summit success while enjoying wide-ranging views and an unforgettable journey to Uhuru Peak.

Machame Route – 6 / 7 / 8 Days
From USD1,830 / 2,034 / 2,254 per person

One of the most scenic and popular ways to reach the top, the Machame Route – also known as the “Whiskey Route” – rewards climbers with dramatic forest paths, rugged ridges, and panoramic vistas. It’s a satisfying challenge that balances beauty and adventure, with flexible itinerary lengths allowing for optimal acclimatisation and summit success.

Rongai Route – 9 Days
From USD2,486 per person

Approaching from the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro, the Rongai Route offers a quieter, more remote trekking experience. Its gradual gradient and drier conditions make it ideal for less experienced hikers or those climbing during the rainy season. While the full itinerary runs over nine days, shorter six or seven-day options are available, with the longer version including an important acclimatisation day.

Lemosho Route – 7 / 8 / 9 Days
From USD2,086 / 2,269 / 2,469 per person

Often described as the most beautiful route on Kilimanjaro, Lemosho traverses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east, offering gentle ascents, breathtaking scenery, and excellent acclimatisation opportunities. It remains delightfully uncrowded until it joins the Machame Route near Lava Tower – a favourite for those seeking both solitude and success.

Northern Circuit Route – 9 Days
From USD2,506 per person

Kilimanjaro’s newest and longest route, the Northern Circuit is widely considered its finest. Combining the best elements of the mountain’s western approach with quiet, little-trodden northern trails, it delivers exceptional scenery, ample acclimatisation time, and the highest summit success rate of any route. It’s the ultimate journey for trekkers seeking an immersive, less-travelled adventure.

Umbwe Route – 6 Days
From USD1,830 per person

For the confident and experienced hiker, Umbwe is the most direct – and most demanding – ascent. Its steep, fast climb through dense forest and narrow ridges offers little time for acclimatisation, making it a serious challenge. A six-day itinerary is strongly recommended to increase the chances of a safe and successful summit.

Mount Meru – 3 / 4 Days
From USD997 / 1,128 per person

A rewarding climb in its own right, Mount Meru (4,562 m) is also an excellent acclimatisation trek before Kilimanjaro. Following the Momella Route through Arusha National Park, trekkers are accompanied by armed rangers, often spotting wildlife such as giraffe, buffalo, and colobus monkeys along the way. The climb culminates in breathtaking sunrise views over Kilimanjaro itself.
